Take, for example, the African jungle, the home of the cheetah. On whom does the cheetah prey? The old, the sick, the wounded, the weak, the very young, but never the strong. Lesson: If you would not be prey, you had better be strong.

Those who were cowards never started, and those who were weak were lost on the way, but the brave find a home in every land.

The show doesn’t drive home a lesson, but it can open up people’s minds enough for them to see how stupid every kind of prejudice can be.

I much prefer working with kids whose life could be completely upended by a reading of a book over a weekend. You give them a book to read – they go home and come back a changed person. And that is so much more interesting and exciting.
