Film and television are just different. Film is cool because it’s a complete package. You know the beginning, middle, and end. You can plan it out more, which I like. But with television you get a new script every week, so it’s constantly a mystery as to what you’re going to be doing.
But if the choice is a cool president and 8 or 10 percent unemployment in a declining economy and a country that seems to be going in the wrong direction and structural unemployment for young people at 50 percent, I’d rather have a dorky president who fixed those problems.
People always used to say to me, ‘Don’t you want your own show? That’d be so cool if you had your own show.’ I said, ‘You know, it’s not gonna happen. So – no.’
On stage, we just want to generate hysteria. We don’t care about looking cool or posing.
